Rescuing dogs who rescue humans

At PTSD Dogs we believe you never walk alone when you have a trained PTSD Assistance Dog by your side. Gentle, intuitive, intelligent and full of unconditional love. They can provide a sense of calm amidst turmoil, safety amid confusion and comfort in sadness.

A specially trained PTSD Assistance Dog can provide a sense of security, calming effects, and physical exercise that can make a positive difference in the life of those who suffer with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Like all assistance dogs, a PTSD service dog is individually trained to do work or perform tasks that mitigate their handler's disability. Training may include providing environmental assessment, signaling behaviors such as reminding the handler to take medication, and guiding the handler away from stressful situations.

Rescue Dogs

Our dogs come from pounds, shelters and rescue groups. They are custom trained to unleash their full potential as a life enhancing assistance dog.

Helping Humans

Our client base is Australian First Responders - Police Officers, Fire Fighters, Paramedics and Military Personnel - who through their work environments have developed PTSD.

Our Program

We are a Not for Profit funded by charitable giving. Our services are totally free to our clients and we supply Life time support to each PTSD Assistance Dog and its handler.
